Animal rescue is a little like teaching: No one chooses this profession with the goal of achieving fortune & fame. Rescue is a mostly thankless job, one where the sadness can cloak you like a wet wool blanket. Other days we can leap tall buildings in a single bound because we found a forever home for the 15 year old whose been at the shelter since she was 7. At any rate, the reality of rescue is that not all who need to be saved are. Not all stories have happy endings.
